Lesson 4 putting it all together.

Bringing all the elements together in an easy system to jump start Spanish.

Let me explain how you can put all the steps together. In 31 days or less you could be conversing in Spanish

After 31 days you may not speak Spanish perfectly. You may not speak Spanish quickly. You may even speak Spanish in a funny way at times. But you will have the tools to get your point across. Because everything you learn you can use immediately.

Doesn’t it make sense to start by learning the easiest and fastest Spanish you can put to use right away? Imagine speaking Spanish in the real world.

Imagine traveling in a Spanish speaking country and confidently talking with the locals.

It is a lot of fun.

In 31 days you could be communicating in Spanish ordering meals, reserving hotels asking questions and understanding answers.

You can even get away from the over priced tourist traps and explore markets, meet villagers and go where the locals go.

That’s the best part of learning with cognates, You learn a ton of Spanish you can use right away.

I have a system called Shortcut to Spanish. You learn to create Spanish in a variety of subjects to communicate in any situation. It is a very easy way for you to get started in Spanish.

There are 4 essential components of the Shortcut to Spanish that allow you to use Spanish immediately. Let me show you the 4 components and give you a few more hints to get your Spanish started.

Shortcut to Spanish component #1

Cognates – How to Learn 3013 Spanish Words Instantly

Cognates are English words with Latin roots. Cognates are an easy, fast, fun way to get a Spanish vocabulary of thousands of words.

The amazing thing about cognates is that you can use them instantly to speak Spanish. All you need to do is learn the rules to translate English word into Spanish.

Here is an example.

Most English words that end in IFY can be changed into Spanish by changing IFY to IFICAR

Clarify

Clarificar

Verify

Justify

Justificar

You just learned 6 Spanish words.

In the book you will learn 31 categories of cognates. You will have an instantaneous Spanish vocabulary of 3013 words.

Shortcut to Spanish component #2

Mnemonics –Ignite your imagination to Learn Spanish Words Fast.

A mnemonic is a mental link between English and the Spanish word you want to learn.

Here is an example

The Spanish word for American is norteamericano – pronounced (nautay americano)

Imagine all the naughty americans on spring break in Cancun. Really use your imagination and see the Americans acting naughty.

Okay okay that’s enough.

By creating a picture in your mind and using your imagination you access the fast learning creative part of your brain.

How do you say American?

Of course you know.

You’ll never forget how to say American in Spanish.

In the Shortcut to Spanish you will learn 132 more words that you won’t forget.

The mnemonics words are carefully selected Spanish words. They are selected because they give you versatility in communication.

In fact that brings me to the next component of Shortcut to Spanish which gives you more Spanish you can use immediately.

Shortcut to Spanish component #3

Power words and power verbs – The 100 most frequently used words in Spanish.

The most useful words that you can combine with cognates to make unlimited Spanish sentences.

Studies have shown that as few as 100 words are repeated over and over in 50% of all communication.

So don’t learn useless words like I did.

I learned words like dish rack and the rasp in the tool shed.

You will learn much more flexible words like who, what, why, where, when, how, how much, very, more, many, drink, eat, new, with etc..

Learn these 100 most versatile words and combine them with cognates and you’ll be talking up a storm in no time.

Shortcut to Spanish component #4

You create Spanish.

After lesson 4 you create Spanish. You use everything you have learned to make real Spanish just like you would use in real conversations.

And the best part is you create Spanish on a variety of subjects. You learn to communicate in any situation.

In fact if you did the mini course with a little lateral thinking you will understand this Spanish.

If you are in the market and you’ll understand

Hay jitomates coliflor y frutas frescas.
There are tomatoes, cauliflower and Fresh fruits.

If you need to repair the car you’ll be able to say.

Voy a reparar mi carro. Tengo un problema en la transmisión.
I am going to repair my car. I have a problem in the transmission.

In the hotel you can say.

Voy a confirmar la reservación
I am going to confirm the reservation

Una reservación para dos personas por favor.
A reservation for two people please.

Or you can ask the receptionist.

Hay una televisión en la habitación?
is there a television in the room?

Hay un restaurante tradicional en el hotel?
Is there a traditional restaurant in the hotel?

You can tell the doctor.

Tengo una irritación en mi estomago.
I have an irritation in my stomache.

You get the idea.

We are only scratching the surface of what you will be able to say.

When you learn all the 31 categories that make 3013 cognates and 132 mnemonics including the top 100 words you will have infinite Spanish communication possibilities.

Just 31 days of easy short Spanish lessons. The lessons take you between 15 and 25 minutes a day to complete.

Each step by step lesson builds on the previous lesson so it always feels easy. But you will be advancing fast.

Before you know it you are easily understanding and creating better and better real Spanish.

You won’t find any of fake conversation you find in most language books.

You won’t find sentences like this.

“The tables are very clean but the waiter is dirty.”

Or this,

“The quick jellyfish is quiet.”

Believe it of not those example were from Spanish textbooks.

Here are examples of the real world Spanish you will be able to say easily on day 14.

Un extremo al otro. – One extreme to the other.

Tengo que ir a los Estados Unidos – I have to go to the United States.

Tiene que abrir su maleta – You have to open your suitcase.

On day 31 you’ll easily create sentences like these.

Ellos quieren ir porque hay otras personas que tienen que visitar. – They have to go because there are other people that they have to visit.

Ella es de México pero tiene casi toda su familia en los Estados Unidos. – She is from Mexico but almost all her family are in the United States.

How to put Spanish together and speak in clear sentences that make sense.

In Lesson 1 – you learned you can make a 1000s of Spanish words instantly with cognates.

In Lesson 2 – you learned how to you can learn Spanish words in a flash with mnemonics.

In Lesson 3 – I will show you how to put Spanish together in clear sentences that make sense.

The key to putting Spanish together is knowing which words are important to learn and which words are a waste of time.

When I started learning Spanish I used to learn words by category. For example The category is the kitchen so you learn all the words in the kitchen.

Don’t make this mistake!

I can’t believe I was so stupid and wasted so much time. I even learned the word for dish drainer.

How many times do you think I have used the Spanish word for dish drainer in conversation?

Never!

The secret to getting on the fast track with Spanish is to learn the words that have the most versatility.

In Lesson 2 you learned some of the most versatile words in Spanish.

The 3 power verbs you know are crucial for communicating in Spanish. I will show you how to combine these power verbs with the cognates you know to make instant clear Spanish.

For example

Do you remember what voy a in English means?

Have a look in the box to see if you are correct.

Spanish – voy a
English – I am going to

Do you remember that you can make Spanish from English with words that end in ate by changing ate to ar?

What is the Spanish word for

 meditate
meditar

What is the Spanish for

 I am going to celebrate.
voy a celbrar.

What is the Spanish for

I am going to donate 10 pesos.
voy a donar 10 pesos.

How are you doing so far?

Learning can be easy can’t it.

I am sure you know the famous expression “mi casa es su casa.”

My house is your house.

What is the Spanish for

I am going to fumigate my house.
voy a fumigar mi casa.

What is the Spanish for

I am going to decorate my house.
voy a decorar mi casa.

What is the Spanish for

I am going to ventilate my house.
voy a ventilar mi casa.

It is still easy to do right.

Do you remember what hay means?

hay
there is

Do you remember how to change tion words into Spanish?

Just change tion to ción.

In Spanish a or an is una.

So what is the Spanish for

There is a celebration.
Hay una celebración.

So what is the Spanish for

There is a cancellation.
Hay una cancelación.

So what is the Spanish for

There is an election.
Hay una elección.

The Spanish for in is en

So if you want to say

There is a celebration in my house.
Hay una celebración en mi casa.

Do you remember what tengo means?

tengo

So if you are in the hotel and you want to say

I have a reservation.
Tengo una reservación.

Or maybe you are going through customs and you want to say

I have a declaration.
Tengo una declaración.

Do you remember what comer means?

comer
to eat

Do you remember what algo means?

algo
something

So if you want to say

To eat something
comer algo.

So if you want to say

I am going to eat something in my house.
Voy a comer algo en mi casa.

How do you say

There is something.
Hay algo.

Do you remember how to change ic words into Spanish?

Just change ic to ico.

How do you say

There is something magic.
Hay algo mágico.

How do you say

I am going to create magic.
voy a crear mágico.

There is something magic about being able to create instant Spanish. You can create a lot more Spanish with just these few words. You didn’t even use the dad words and you only used one ico word.

Imagine how much Spanish you can create when you use 31 categories of cognates combined with 18 power verbs.

Then multiply that with 100 power words.

Put all those elements together and you can express just about anything in Spanish.

How to unleash your memory power to learn any Spanish word instantly.

Mnemonics are without doubt the most powerful tool for learning a language.

Mnemonics took me from getting nowhere in Spanish, to dominating the Spanish language. When I started learning Spanish, I studied grammar and my progress was slow. It was like banging my head against a brick wall.

You don’t have to bang your head against a wall. You can start learning Spanish on the fast track by using mnemonics from the get go.

Why are mnemonics so important?

Mnemonics put the power of your imagination into learning. Unfortunately in school most learning is left brain analytical and rigid. Mnemonics are the opposite, they access your right brain. The right brain is creative, imaginative, fluid and much better at fast learning.

How do mnemonics work?

Mnemonics make a link between English and the Spanish word that you want to learn. For example

The Spanish word for bread is pan.

Imagine yourself cooking bread in a pan. Really use your imagination and see yourself in your mind cooking a whole loaf of bread in the pan. The more crazy it looks the better.

By creating a picture in your mind and using your imagination you access the right brain. Plus you have a link between the English word bread and the Spanish word for bread, pan.

I challenge you to learn 6 Spanish words in under two minutes.

Use your imagination to learn these 6 words. Pay attention to the Spanish pronunciation in brackets.

The Spanish word for beach is playa. (PLI AH)
Imagine you are “playing on the beach

The Spanish word for to eat is comer. (COM AIR)
Imagine your mum saying to you “come here to eat your dinner.

The Spanish words for something is algo. (ALGO)
If you remember the hit TV show “Married with Children”
Imagine Peg Bundy saying to Al Bundy, “Al go and do something.”

The Spanish word for there is or there is is hay. (EYE)
Imagine a cyclopes says there is hay in my eye.

The Spanish word for I have is tengo. (TENGO)
I have a new Nintendo game and I have ten goes a day.

The Spanish word for I am going to is voy. (BOY)
Imagine saying to a friend “Boy a party
tonight I am going to really enjoy that.”

Okay is it really possible to learn 6 words in under two minutes?

It sure is!

Lets see if you got the idea of mnemonics and learned the Spanish words.

Think about what the words in the boxes mean.

Then Check your answers by clicking on the arrows

What are the English words for

 voy
I am going to

What are the English words for

 tengo
I have

What is the English word for

 algo
something

What are the English words for

 hay
there is

What are the English words for

 comer
to eat

What is the English words for

 playa
beach

What is the English word for

 pan
bread

That was actually 7 words with the example word pan.

You know learning only nouns with mnemonics is even easier than what you just did. You learned 3 power verbs. They are a little harder to learn but much more important.

Why are power verbs important?

Because what good is knowing a bunch of words if you can´t put them together to speak Spanish.

Well guess what?

Using the 3 power verbs You already learned you can start putting Spanish together and speaking Spanish.

In the next lesson I will show you how to use the power verbs you just learned and combine them with your 1000 words cognate vocabulary to start speaking Spanish in sentences.
